Jamie Ingram: winner of the British Commonwealth's top bravery medal

GOLD MEDAL & GALLEGHAN AWARD

Mr. Jamie Ingram

Jamie Ingram chased a knife-wielding murderer through the streets of the Sydney CBD at lunchtime in August 2019.

The offender was covered in blood and stabbed bystanders as he ran towards Circular Quay. At one point the offender shouted that he had a bomb in his shoulder bag.

As he was about to attack people seated at an outdoor café Jamie bravely felled him from behind and wrestled him as he tried to regain the knife or detonate the alleged bomb. Others in the chasing group helped pin the offender.

Jamie could have been attacked at any time during the chase through the city. He and the other chasers bravely restrained the offender for 10 minutes until Police arrived, fully aware that the offender’s alleged bomb could have exploded at any moment.
